BASELINE SELF PROMO ADwelcome to the new home of baseline

We decided to approach the layout of this advert purely from the perspective of highlighting our new website and web address.

The ad accompanied a feature on music festival branding, so an illustrative “ping-pong” piece of illustration work between 2 designers – both contributing their own content – was decided as a unique, one off and fun way of doing something a little bit different.

PATHWAYS TO WORK

Pathways to Work
Pathways to Work is a new government based initiative to encourage people currently claiming Incapacity Benefit to try to get back into work. We’ve created an identity that shuns the usual dull and dreary images for a more upbeat and positive illustrative theme to catch eyes and turns heads – and hopefully drawing attention to the many benefits of working.

HYDRO CONNECT MUSIC FESTIVAL, INVERARAY CASTLE

Connect Music festival

This year’s Connect Music Festival – which takes place at the end of August in Inveraray – will be sponsored by Scottish Hydro Electric, and baseline were brought in by the festival promoters (DF Concerts) to adapt the existing festival logo to effectively incorporate Scottish Hydro Electric’s branding and to further develop and implement the advertising of this unique boutique event. THE EDGE FESTIVAL, EDINBURGH

The Edge Festival, Edinburgh

We were approached to design the logo for the latest music festival in Scotland – The Edge Festival, which is replacing the highly-acclaimed T on the Fringe event. The Edge Festival will comprise of an eclectic mix of some of the best live acts spanning a variety of musical genres – all playing in some of the best music venues in Edinburgh throughout August. We’re looking forward to it already…

UP AND RUNNING AT LAST

Baseline has been lucky enough to have done a considerable amount of music-related work over the course of our seven year history, and in one form or another, we’ve been responsible for the design work involved with the T in the Park festival from its very first year (through promoters DF Concerts) since WAY back in 1994.

A passion for music and a passion for the best parts of graphic design has been realised and inspired by the approach taken by the many talented people producing screen printed gig posters in the USA. And as a small design studio in Scotland, we’ve been extremely fortunate enough to try our hands at this type of design work, either through enlightened clients or off our own backs. Since the first one, it’s been love at first sight.

One small spark of an idea has lead to another, and another… and in order to completely fulfill our love of the hand-done screen printed gig poster… we’ve now got our very own screen printing workshop set-up in place.

Screen printing at baseline

Exposures have been (almost!) calculated, emulsion coatings have been sweated over and sleeves have been rolled up to stop them getting covered in ink along with everything else, but we’re now almost there with getting a working set-up fine tuned and fully up and running after a heavy learning curve.

The first test prints are now under our belts (using colour scheme variations of our SxSW Scottish Showcase poster design) and commercially available work will then be the next big step for us.

The amount of support, enthusiasm and help we’ve had with this venture has been incredible so far, and if that’s been an indication of what’s ahead for us, then we can only look forward to the many opportunities ahead.

SCOTTISH WOODLANDS

Scottish Woodlands Brochure
Scottish Woodlands came to us to revamp their company profile which was in need of a freshen up. We created a fresh theme for the company literature based around natural colours and combined it with strong photography to show a more modern approach to the well established woodland company.
